Fishing

Fishing is the practice of catching Fish from water around Honeywood. A Fishing Rod is needed; one can be bought from the Fisher or one of high quality can be won in the Fishing Contest. Fish can also be purchased for use in the Preservative Jar, Drying Rack, or Cooking. They can be eaten raw but cause Nausea.

To start fishing when playing with a keyboard, the Player must stand close to a body of water and press the Space bar key. When a Fish bites, the Player will get an exclamation mark above their head, and the player must press Space bar again. A timed mini-game then begins where the Player must use the WASD-keys to follow the path the Fish takes. The mini-game can also be altered or turned off in the Options tab.

Fishing Skill

An in-game screenshot of the icon that leads to the Skills tab.

Fishing will also level up your Fishing skill over time. You will receive accumulated experience points in Fishing by Midnight of the day you were Fishing. Your progress in leveling up the Fishing skill can be tracked in your Family tab, by clicking on the middle icon, which leads to the skills tab.

Leveling up in the skill will unlock Blueprints and Recipes, while reaching level 5 or 10 will unlock two perks for the Player to choose between.

While perks cannot be changed for the current Player, the gained experience points are reset upon playing as a new Character.

You can fish in saltwater or freshwater; Saltwater is the Ocean. Freshwater is the Lake, the Pond, the River, the Swamp.

There is a pond that is located near the far east corner of the Player's farm.

There is a swamp where the witch Astra Vosen resides (far west on the map next to the bridge that leads to Mermaid's Lagoon).
