Blacksmithing

Players can make use of various tools on the island of Honeywood. To use a tool, it must be in the inventory and active when selecting an appropriate interactable. Tools come in tiers of quality; high-quality tools are more expensive and difficult to obtain.

Some tools degrade over time and require repair or replacement: the Hoe, the Scythe, the Axe, the Pickaxe, and the Fishing Rod. Their durability is represented as a status bar under the tool image in the inventory; upon reaching empty these tools will break and disappear. Any degraded tool can be repaired by the blacksmith for a small fee. It will be returned by mail the following day. High-quality tools degrade more slowly.

Watering cans and lanterns do not degrade, but instead have similar status bars that represent their capacity for consumable fuel: water or lantern oil. High-quality versions of these tools have more capacity and thus can be used longer before refills.

Watering Can

The watering can is necessary for farming. It can be used on a square of dry hoed ground, with or without a plant or seed. Watering cans do not have durability but instead lose water with each application, shown in the blue status bar below the inventory icon. The higher the quality of the watering can the more water it holds. Water can be refilled at any freshwater source or at a constructed well by pressing space. Watering cans can't be fixed at the blacksmith as they never disappear.

  • Tier 1: Simple Watering Can. Available from the blacksmith NPC.
  • Tier 2: Iron Watering Can. Available from the blacksmith NPC.
  • Tier 3: Steel Watering Can. Available from the blacksmith NPC.

Hoe

The hoe is necessary for farming. It can be used on a square of cleared ground to ready it for planting, or on bushes or plants to remove them. Hoes degrade over time, and can be repaired at the blacksmith. Better quality hoes have higher durability.

  • Tier 1: Simple Hoe.
  • Tier 2: Iron Hoe.
  • Tier 3: Steel Hoe.

Scythe

The scythe allows clearing of weeds and harvest of grain crops such as wheat, oats, and hay. Scythes degrade over time and can be repaired at the blacksmith. Better quality scythes have higher durability.

  • Tier 1: Simple Scythe.
  • Tier 2: Iron Scythe.
  • Tier 3: Steel Scythe.

Lanterns

The lantern is required for entering some dark areas, such as the mine, and can be used to improve visibility and speed in any dark environment. Lanterns don't have durability but instead run out of lantern oil. The higher quality of lantern you have, the more lantern oil it can hold. You can purchase lantern oil from the Lavender Boutique, Brothers Carpentry, or from the blacksmith. Their trading inventories change everyday so check back on different days to see if they have lantern oil available to sell.

  • Tier 1: Lantern
  • Tier 2: Iron Lantern. Can be obtained from the blacksmith, passing ships, or quest rewards.
  • Tier 3: Mushroom Lantern. Only obtainable at the witch coven event in the forest.

To put oil in your lantern you can either click spacebar while holding the oil, or open the Family page and click the oil icon below the lantern.

Fishing Rod

With a fishing rod you can fish at sea, ponds, lakes and rivers.

  • Tier 1: Basic Fishing Rod. Always available from the fisher and blacksmith NPCs.
  • Tier 2: Iron Fishing Rod. Sometimes available from the fisher NPC.
  • Tier 3: Rainbow Fishing Rod. Only available during the Fishing Contest by earning at least 500 fish tokens.

Pickaxe

The pickaxe allows clearing of rocks and mining of minerals such as stone, clay, and crystals. Pickaxes degrade over time and can be repaired at the blacksmith. Better quality pickaxes have higher durability.

  • Tier 1: Simple Pickaxe.
  • Tier 2: Iron Pickaxe.
  • Tier 3: Steel Pickaxe.

Axe

The axe allows clearing of stumps and trees. Axes degrade over time and can be replaced at the blacksmith. Better quality axes have higher durability.

  • Tier 1: Simple Axe.
  • Tier 2: Iron Axe.
  • Tier 3: Steel Axe.

Farm Tools

The Shears (71 gold) and Milk Pail (78 gold) are items required to collect goods from Livestock. Shears are needed to gather Sheep Fur and the Milk Pail is needed to collect Milk, Goat Milk, Rainbow Milk, and Midnight Milk. They do not lose durability.
