The lantern is used to counter the darkness debuff, allowing the player to walk at normal speed in dark areas. Lanterns don't have durability but instead use Lantern Oil. The higher quality lantern you have, the slower the oil runs out.

You can purchase lantern oil from the lavender Boutique, brothers Carpentry, or The Local Iron. Oil can also be obtained as a quest reward.

To put oil in your lantern you can either use space with the oil selected in your inventory bar, or open the Family page and click the oil icon below the lantern.

How to obtain

The basic lantern can be made at the Crafting Table or purchased. The Iron Lantern can be purchased from the Local Iron, sailors, or received as a quest reward. The Mushroom Lantern is available via Secret Invite.
