A winter storm

Winter is the final season of the year. No crops can be grown, but foraged items may be gathered. Items from the Preservative Jar or Drying Rack, namely Fish, are a good source of energy from the limited choices. Ships only come to Honeywood on the first weekend of the season, so if any Villagers die then they will not be replaced until Spring. The festivals include the Crafting Contest, Winter Gala, and the Lantern Festival. Snow regularly falls in this season for players on PC.

Fruit Trees

Persimmon is the only tree that bears fruit in winter. Two Persimmon trees grow in the Graveyard. While they can be grown on your Farm, their seed must be planted before winter begins, as seeds cannot be planted during winter and growth halts for immature trees during this season.

Festivals

Only the Crafting Contest has a competition and a substantial money prize. The event is held in a tent behind the School House on Winter 6 at 9AM. ou can enter by speaking with the Mayor. After entering, you have until 3PM/15:00 to choose your submission. Talk to the judges for hints about what they’re looking for.

At the deadline, you’ll be teleported to the tent automatically, so be sure your chosen item is in your inventory. You can submit any item you’ve crafted—it doesn’t need to be made specifically for the contest. Your entry will be returned after the event.

The winning prize is a declaration of crafting mastership (signed by the King himself!) and 500 coins. It is currently unknown whether the same prize is awarded in future years.

The Winter Gala is a primarily social event held on Winter 12. Upon receiving the invitation in the mail, you are asked if you would like to participate in the event. Regardless of your answer, Wild Cranberry spawns across the map. This is the only day it can be found.

Wild Cranberries can be gathered and either given to the Mayor before the event begins at 5 PM (17:00), or kept for cooking, selling, or saving for next year. The event takes place in the Town Hall, where the entire town gathers, similar to the Bonfire celebration.

During the Gala, festive recipes such as Twelfth Cake, Marzipan, Mince Pie, Plum Pudding, and Fruitcake are available for purchase, but otherwise, no major events take place. The next morning, you receive a letter commenting on your participation. You may also receive a small gift of coins and one Cranberry Punch. The Lantern Festival is held on Winter 21 at 9 PM (21:00) at the docks near the Sleeping Siren Inn. To participate, you must first purchase a Paper Lantern from the Lighthouse Keeper. After doing so, you can speak with the Mayor to begin a cutscene in which the villagers release their lanterns into the sky.

While nothing of major significance occurs during the event, it serves as a quiet, communal moment to mark the end of the year.
